Beatrice Yvonne Bowling Shaw

Beatrice Yvonne Bowling Shaw, 85, of Flintstone, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 23, 2023 surrounded by her family at her home. She was born in Dawson, Alabama on February 10, 1938 to the late, Terry Bowling & Minnie Ola Kilgore Bowling and had lived in the Powder Springs and North Georgia areas for most of her life. She retired from McEachern High School after more than 20 years of service as part of the cafeteria staff, where she enjoyed meeting and serving the students for so many years. She was a lifelong church member of St. Elmo Church of God, Powder Springs Church of God, Riverside Church of God and most recently New Haven Fellowship, where she loved singing southern gospel music and teaching Sunday School to the children. She enjoyed playing games, doing puzzels and just spending time with her family and friends. Her life was a true reflection of Christ’s love for others and with her servant’s heart she was always putting others needs before her own. She was completely devoted to her family, especially her husband, Proverbs 31:28 & 29 says 28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.” One of her favorite verses was Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord my rock and my redeemer.” She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Henry Bowling and Marvin Bowling; sisters, Theora Bowling Rogers, Corene Bowling Morgan Pasqualetti and Stella Bowling Cavin. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of more than 69 years, Freddie Shaw; son, Jerry Shaw of Ringgold, GA; daughter, Brenda Rapier & (Steve) of Flintstone, GA; sons & daughters-in-law, Rickey Shaw & (Mary) of Manchester, TN, Kenneth Shaw & (Delores) of Dallas, GA, David Shaw & (Irie) of Acworth, GA; sisters, Lorene Shaw of Trenton, GA and Fay Thurmond of Rosalie, AL; brother & sister-in-law, Buddy Bowling & (Linda) of East Ridge, TN; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family & friends. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2023 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel, 555 West Cloud Springs Road, Rossville, Georgia with Rev. Jack Sexton officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens, 4157 Atlanta Street, Powder Springs, GA 30127 with Bro. Thomas Blagg officiating.
