Wayne Augustus Gordy Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Wayne Augustus Gordy, 79, of Ringgold, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022. A native of Ringgold, Georgia, he lived in the Tampa, Florida area until he returned to Ringgold in 1979. He was a former employee of the United States Postal Service where he worked for 34 years and was a member of Nellie Head Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norton and Bertie Peters Gordy; and grandson, Jacob Clay Guinn. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Grace Lynnette Nichols Gordy of Ringgold, GA.; three children, Suzanne (Dan) Rumphol, Melissa (David) Guinn and Greg Gordy; sister, Lola Sue Chapman; brother, Gerald (Kathy) Gordy; six grandchildren, Matt (Chelsie) Rumphol, Joshua (Skylar) Rumphol, Stephen Guinn, Travis Gordy, Kevin Rumphol, and Shelby (Zack) Jones; three great grandchildren, Lyla Rumphol, Victoria Rumphol and Willow Rumphol; honorary grandson, Dakota Gentry; several nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 17, 2022 with Pastor David Nix officiating. Interment will follow at Gordy Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 P.M. Wednesday and 9 A.M. until funeral time Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel 443 Boynton Dr. Ringgold, Georgia.
