Katie Ruth Parton Wood Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Katie Ruth Parton Wood, 87, of Ringgold, Georgia went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, March 7, 2021. A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, she was the last charter member and was a lifetime member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church. During her life, Katie wore many hats as wife, mother, sister, grandmother, friend and church worker and gave her all to make sure everyone was loved and taken care of. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Jackson Wood Sr.; son, David Jackson Wood Jr.; father, Albert Leo Parton and mother, Mamie Teems Parton Ware. She is survived by three children, Linda (Larry) Hollifield, Debbie (Junior) Sexton, and Steve (Fay) Wood all of Ringgold, GA.; two sisters, Connie Green of Ringgold, GA., and Darlene Berry of LaFayette, GA.; brother, William Parton of Ringgold, GA.; five grandchildren, Chris Hollifield, Kera Brewer, Jamie Sexton, Becky Steed and Aaron (Cassi) Wood; four great grandchildren, Cooper Sexton, Megan Brewer, Merritt Steed and Evelyn Steed; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Larry Hollifield and Pastor Clyde Painter officiating. Interment will follow in the Baxter Addition to Anderson Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 P.M. Tuesday and 12-2 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Wilson funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel Ringgold, Georgia.
