James Ulyess Cross Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James Ulyess Cross Jr. age 98 of Chickamauga, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 25, 2022. He was born to the late James U. Cross Sr. and Bertha Combs Cross in Harrison, TN, lived most of his live in the North Georgia Area and was a member of Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church. James served his country in the U.S. Army, during WWII in the 66th Infantry Division, in the European Theatre. After he went to work for Combustion Engineering as a welder and retired in 1982 after more than 30 years. James was a member of the Boilermakers Union #656 and enjoyed woodworking and carpentry work. He loved to be in the garden and farming and was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed. James was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Avo Martin Cross, sister; Estell Mashburn and Corrine Byrd, and brothers; Edgar Cross, Clyde Cross, and Leroy Cross. Left to cherish his memory are his children; Beverly (James) Bennett and Dianne Walton, step-son; Bill (Gail) Davis, brother; Benny Cross, grandchildren; Beth Ware and Heather Watson, step-grandchildren; Reid Davis, Cassie Davis, Jason Trundle and Tim Trundle, great grandchildren; Bryce Ware and Angelle Watson, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 31, 2022 in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Terry Burns officiating. Interment will be private in the Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park at a later date. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service on Sunday.
