Dennis Franklin Gentry Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dennis Franklin Gentry, 77, of Rock Spring, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 3, 2022. He was born on October 2, 1944 in LaFayette, Georgia to the late Benjamin & Velula Gentry and has lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life. He was of the Christian faith and was an Army Veteran having served during Vietnam. He worked most of his life as an Owner & Operator in the Trucking industry for more than 40 years and had a passion for photography and a true love for taking care of children. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend that will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Donna Ostro; brother, Jimmy Gentry and son, Freddy Plank, Jr. Survivors include his loving wife of more than 32 years, Starr Schrader Gentry; children and spouses, Brian & Melanie Gentry, Larry & Amanda Gentry, Debbie Plank, Treena & Randy Hixon, David & Amanda Plank and Joseph Plank; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren and numerous extended family & friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2022 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Justin Keating officiating. Burial will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
