Bertha Taylor "Nana" Whitlock Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Bertha Taylor “Nana” Whitlock, 85, of Chickamauga, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 7, 2022. Bertha was born on July 29, 1936 in Gillsville, Ga. Her death joins her with her Savior as well as her beloved husband of 55 years, Austin “Pops” Whitlock. She longed to be with both for many years. Bertha spent most of her life dedicated to raising her three children, caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and serving in church alongside Pops. Nana’s cooking was famous in Northwest Georgia, and she fed countless friends and family. On Sundays after church, she could be found in the kitchen or around the dining room table with her family. In addition to her husband, Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Emory and Alice Taylor; one sister, Mildred Garrison; and one granddaughter, Angel Kelsea Cunningham. Bertha’s legacy lives on through two sisters, Floy Wood and Gladys Cain; three children, Greg (Cristal) Whitlock, Connie (Michael) Cunningham, and Jackie (Terrie) Whitlock; three grandchildren, Marissa (Nic) Hann, Macy (Sean) Rowe, and A. J. Whitlock; and two great-grandchildren, Eli Hann and Miles Rowe. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 8 and 12-2 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Chickamauga, Ga. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Lafayette Memory Gardens.
