Lester Floyd Lewis

Lester Floyd Lewis passed away peacefully on October 18th, 2023 with his wife, Mary Jo, and daughter, Lisa, sitting by his side. He was born on March 29th, 1943 with his twin brother Chester in Dothan, Alabama to Sonny and Mattie Lewis. He was a dedicated servant his whole life, serving in the Air Force and as a deacon at the Pine Grove Baptist Church. Not only did he serve in the military, but he always kept service members in his prayers and helped place flags in Ringgold, GA. yearly for Memorial Day and Veterans Day memorial celebration. Regardless of his many acts of compassion and honor, his love for his family shone through it all. He will be a very missed husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, and neighbor. Papa could usually be found working on his garden, mowing the lawn, helping his church, or loving on his pets, including his current dog Oreo. He never hesitated to help a friend or neighbor when asked, and always was willing to share his amazing tomatoes. If you were lucky enough to spend time with him and go for a ride in his truck, you would notice it looked like new. Once he was helping clean my car to get it to that same standard and said, “Whenever you do something, do it well the first time.” That simple advice explains his lovely marriage of 60 years to Mary Jo Lewis, as well as how proud he was to be a father to Lisa (Bob Marshburn). He loved his grandchildren, Rebecca (Jacob Sellers, Mary Jo Sellers, Hawkins Sellers), Meagan (Ralph Rogers, Emmeline Rogers), and Bobby without bounds, and anyone he called a friend felt like they were included in his family. Lester put 100% of himself into each facet of his life, and he did it well the first time…except for retiring. He retired from the company Aztec about four times over the years as he loved to be busy and helpful. His memory and love will never diminish by those lives he touched. Thankfully he is with his Lord, and certainly will continue watching over us all. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023 in the chapel of Wilson’s Funeral Homes Wallis ~ Stewart chapel in Ringgold, GA. A private burial will be held on a later date. In leu of flowers, Lester and Mary Jo have asked that a monetary donation be given to their beloved church and congregation, Pine Grove Baptist Church (46 Pine Grove Access Rd, Ringgold, GA 30736).
