Ruby Mae Hawkins

Ruby Mae Hawkins, age 101 of Rossville, held the hand of the Lord on Saturday, October 2, 2021.  She passed away peacefully, knowing family and friends loved her.  She was the backbone of her family and raised many generations of faithful men and women.  Ruby survived two pandemics, the great depression, the loss of a grandchild, cancer, and the loss of many family members and friends.  Ruby worked as a substitute teacher for many years in the Rossville area schools, and in later years as a waitress at Armando’s Restaurant in Rossville.  She was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Hawkins; grandson, Mark Hawkins; sister, Winnie Cooke; and parents, Vinnie and Clark Allison.  Left to cherish her memory, her two children, Lenny (Gayle) Hawkins and Lannis (Rick) Buff; grandchildren, Andy (Lisa) Hawkins, Eric Hawkins, Stacy (Jeff) Nelms, and Brad (Jana) Buff;  great grandchildren, Evan Hawkins, Ryan Hawkins, Allie Nelms, Brody Buff, Carter Buff, Haley (Josh) Clark and Taylor (Colin) Jones; and several nieces and nephews.  Due to the pandemic, a traditional service will be replaced with a graveside service for the immediate family.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, or your favorite charity, in Ms. Ruby’s name.  Arrangements by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home-Fort Oglethorpe.

Service Location: Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park 724 Hogan Road Rossville GA 30741
