Delores Ann Nelson Hayes

May 31, 1942 – August 21, 2021

Delores Ann Nelson Hayes, 79 of Rossville, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021.  She was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Hayes worked for Merry Maids and loved cooking, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. Her favorite time was either spent with family, especially her grandchildren, or cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers! Go Vols!! She was preceded in death by her parents, Newton and Margaret Holcomb Nelson; sister in laws, Reba Nelson, Lucy Nelson, Debbie Nelson, as well as several aunts and uncles. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Truman Hayes; children, Tyler Hayes of Rossville, Kelly Lynn Hayes of Rossville, Douglas Wayne Bearden of  Chattanooga; brothers, Harold (Evelyn) Nelson of Ringgold, Donnie Nelson of Flintstone, Frank Nelson of Chickamauga; grandchildren, Jacob and Eli Hayes, Brooklyn and Timothy Bearden; sister in laws, Rita Clark, Kita (Harold) McCormick, Sandra Jenkins, Joyce Thornton; special friend, Phyllis Stephens; several nieces and nephews, and a very special thank you to Crystal and Lyle Elrod. For visitation and funeral services, the family request that visitors please wear facemasks. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, and from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Lakewood Memorial Gardens ~ South. Online guest book at  Arrangements by W. L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Homes, Fort Oglethorpe, GA.
