Maxie Westbrook

October 17, 1939 – July 30, 2021

Maxie Joyce Coulter Westbrook age 81, of LaFayette, Georgia passed away Friday morning – July 30, 2021. She was born in LaFayette to the late Edward “Drew” Andrew & Mary Katherine Hendrix Coulter. She was a graduate of LaFayette High School – Class of 1957 and was voted Mrs. Betty Crocker by her Senior Class. She was a lifelong resident of Walker County and worked for the county government in the Tax Commissioner’s office and the Road Department’s office for over 29 years. She was also a previous employee of Woods – Christian Title Company in Rossville, Georgia. After retiring from the county government in 2016, she began working at Wilson Funeral Homes, where she enjoyed helping others in their time of grief. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and traveling any chance she got. She was a longtime member of Rock Spring Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Maxie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by her loving family and friends and always remembered for her kindness, her friendly smile and love to all who were blessed to know her. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother: Jackie Coulter and brother-in-law: Jim Mize. She is survived by her children: Phyllis (Rick) Potts of Rock Spring, GA, Tim (Grace) Westbrook of Chickamauga, GA, sister: Carolyn Mize of LaFayette, GA, sister-in-law: Betty Coulter of Rock Spring, GA, grandchildren: Will (Lucy) Potts, Shanica (Mike) Lewis, Josh (Alicia) Westbrook, Dr. Megan (Cameron) Brown, Chase Westbrook, Chloe’ (Dewayne) Johnson, Sophie’ Westbrook, Edward Westbrook, Clint Westbrook, great-grandchildren: Mikaela (Matt) Bowers, Makinley Lewis, Emma Westbrook, great-great-grandchildren: Tinsley and Weston Bowers, several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the caregivers that helped the past three years in Maxie’s care. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm – Saturday and from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Sunday at The Spring at Rock Spring United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday – August 1, 2021 at Rock Spring United Methodist Church with Reverend: Jim Powell officiating. Burial will follow in McIntyre Cemetery.     I have know Maxie for about fifty years. She was one of the kindest woman I have ever known. I have found memories of always talking with her when they had the furniture store, craft fairs and when any of the Cline family passed away. I know she will be missed by all her friends and family.

    Let me tell you about my Best Friend, how I miss walking into room room and singing this song with you. Your sweet face would light up the room ohhh how I miss you sooo dearly my sweet friend we shared many tears and many laughs, i love you Maxie to the moon and back❤
