December 21, 1944 ~ June 22, 2021
Bobby Ray Broyles, age 76, of LaFayette passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 quietly at his home in LaFayette, GA where he resided for 10 years. He was born December 21, 1944 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Mr. Clyde and Hazel Broyles. Bobby was one of four children. Bobby was a man of perseverance. No matter what life handed him he worked diligently to make the best of it. There wasn’t a car or home repair he couldn’t fix. He valued money earned and always sought to fix something himself if possible. He was a wealth of knowledge and passed that along to his family and friends. Over the years Bobby worked in a few fields, but his longest was spent on the Florida roads driving semi sized trucks to deliver housing trusses for future homes. On the weekends, if he wasn’t working at his home, he was helping his father-in-law to pick fruit in the orange groves. Bobby was always active and always working in some capacity. Throughout his life, Bobby enjoyed the things we often take for granted, the beauty all around us. He often talked about his adventures as a young boy growing up in the Georgia country. He loved football and although he grew up in Georgia and lived in Florida for many years he cheered “Roll Tide!” He enjoyed fishing and putting his toes in the sand at the beach. Even as an older adult he often talked with excitement about driving around the mountains. At the end of the day what Bobby found the most rewarding was his family. To say he was a husband, father, step father, bonus father, and grandfather does not really tell it all. Selfless is the best word to describe the man we all know and love.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Hazel Broyles; siblings Mary Forbes and Kermit Broyles; and beloved grandson, Christopher Jordan.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 45 years, Linda Faye Broyles; daughters Wanda McNabb, Hazel Broyles, Tracey (Duane) Fairfax, and Tammy Garcia; brother, Jim (Phyllis) Broyles; a host of twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Bishop Art Stoddard officiating. Interment will follow at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
