Caitlin Louise Russell

Caitlin Louise Russell age 34, of LaFayette was born July 29, 1986 in Melbourne, Florida. On April 21, 2021, Caitlin, after a long battle with cystic fibrosis, gained her wings. Throughout Caitlin’s life she was able to accomplish amazing feats. She was a tough competitor in the swimming pool, with a great coach, Terry Schlichmaier. Caitlin loved working with children with autism, and the children loved her. At family reunions, Caitlin would always entertain the younger children who adored her and would follow her on many adventures! Caitlin had a special gift of writing. Her poems, thoughts and quotes have inspired many others with cystic fibrosis. Although she was born into a Florida Gator family, at a young age she was swayed by her uncle Ralph to the dark side and became a Georgia Bulldog fan. She and her uncle Ralph had a bond that could not be broken. {“There are no happy endings. Endings are the saddest part, so just give me a happy middle and a very happy start.”} Caitlin was preceded in death by her brothers, Cody and Casey Russell; daddy, Samuel Lewis Russell; grandparents, Colonel Albert B. and Pauline A. Parsons. She is survived by her mother, Laurie Russell; her son, Sammy Russell; Paternal grandmother, Jean Russell; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who she dearly loved. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
