Barbara Rose Crisp Price Brown

Barbara Rose “Granny” Crisp Price Brown, age 87 of Ringgold, was called home to be with the Lord Saturday, February 6, 2021 at her residence. Barbara was born March 12, 1933 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Samual Roy Crisp and Dorothy Leona Hedrick Crisp of Dalton, Georgia. Barbara, most commonly referred to as “Granny”, was a strong Christian woman who loved dancing, singing (she sang in her church choir as a child), baking and canning vegetables, traveling, listening to old country music, and she thoroughly enjoyed dining at Red Lobster & Provino’s Italian Restaurants. While raising her children, she was active in their school programs, always eager to volunteer and help in any way she could. One of her favorite pastimes was celebrating the holidays with all five of her children and family, especially Thanksgiving & Christmas. Even though she never learned to swim, one of her favorite places to be was at the beach, where she would proudly done a bikini and sit in a lounge chair right at the edge of the waves for hours. She was known for her flower garden at her former home in Lawrenceville, GA. Together, she and her husband, Bill, created a home that constantly had friends and family from near and far flowing through. A queen in the garage sale market, Barbara always had a knack for finding goodies that were cherished by ones she loved most. She was devoted to family and there was never anything more important to her. Barbara was strong, determined and never backed down from a challenge. To this day, all of her kids and grandkids can still hear her say, “Can’t never could do anything!” Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by husband of 54 years, William Kenneth Brown; twin brother, Charles Sydney Crisp; Max Calvin Crisp, Farris Martina Love and Aidea Sue Davis; and grandson, Brian Keith Horton. Left to cherish her graceful legacy are her five loving children; Jan Gordon of Ringgold, GA; Wanda Brown of Paulding County, GA; Rocky Price of Rocky Face, GA; Sam Price of Cumming, GA; and Wendy Brown Messick (Allen) of Pompano Beach, FL. Also, her ten beloved grandchildren who called her, “Granny”; Greg Gordon, Melanie (Mark) Hammontree, Haley (Mitchell) Valencia, Angela (Rock) Brown Harden, Michael (Kristina) Brown, Stephanie (Matt) Arnell, Shawn (Meredith) Price, Ashley (Luke) Avery, Danielle Messick, and Alexis Price; seventeen great-grandchildren; a sister; Reba Scealf, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2021 in Lakewood Memorial Gardens – South with Brother Rod Walls officiating.

Barbara was always a great sister and friend to my Mom, Aidia Sue Crisp Davis. She visited my Mom in Texas on many occasions and they would speak to each other often over the phone. My Mom thought the world of her older sister. I hope they are reunited on the other side of the veil. My thoughts and prayers to her family.
