Rev. Gene and Mrs. Polly James

Rev. Delmer “Gene” James, age 83, and Mrs. Pauline “Polly” Franklin James, age 79, of Dalton, both went to their Heavenly Home on Friday, January 22, 2021. They were married on November 30, 1958 and were married for 62 years, separated by death for only four hours, then reunited again with each other in the presence of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Together they worked hard all their lives building a wonderful legacy to leave behind. They raised a family, built a farm, founded Beaverdale Superette and kept Beaverdale Baptist Church open in the early 1980’s. After retirement Gene “Trailer Man” started “Cleveland Road Trailer Sales” which he operated until March of 2020. He always had a joke to tell and loved to tell people about Jesus and lead them to Christ! He would say, “If your salvation don’t change your life then I wouldn’t trust it to get you to Heaven.” Polly was a wonderful wife, mom, granny and sister who took care of her family until the very end. She was a very giving person and would help anyone in need. She loved doing crafts, flowers, cooking and sewing.
