Wilburn “Wib” Lee Wimpy, 100, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021. A native of the Ringgold area, he lived several years in Wyandotte, Michigan and then moved back to Ringgold in 1978. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during W.W. II, and was a retired employee of General Motors in Michigan. Wib was a lifetime member of the Quitman Masonic Lodge, the VFW and the American Legion Post 40. He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jones Wimpy; parents, Joseph and Alice Dickson Wimpy; daughter, Brenda Borza; and six siblings. He is survived by two children, Sharon Wimpy of Wyandotte, MI., and Gary Wimpy of Ringgold, GA.; two sisters, Edna Castleman of Lincoln Park, MI. and Eloise Korte of Gibraltar, MI..; five grandchildren, Ron (Betty) Borza, Gino (Shari) Borza, Dino Borza, Brian (Beth) Wimpy and Ashley (Sebastian Payne) Wimpy; eight great grandchildren, Evan Wimpy, Tyler (Jacqueline) Wimpy, Corbin Wimpy, Airyn Wimpy, Olivia Wimpy, Valerie (Gregg) Phelps, Mario Borza, and Deena (Tyler) Sheets; five great great grandchildren, Zia Phelps, Lila Phelps, Penelope Wimpy, Eleanor Wimpy and Ella Borza; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M. Friday, January 22, 2021 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Dunagan Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3-6 P.M. Thursday and 9 A.M. until funeral time Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel Ringgold, Georgia.
