Kenneth Ray Spurgeon, loving husband, wonderful father and amazing grandpa, 72, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at his residence. A native of Guntersville, Alabama, he has lived in the Dalton area for the past 35 years and was formerly of Ringgold, Georgia. He was a former employee of Walden Security where he worked at Oriental Weavers for 16 years and was a member of Lee’s Chapel. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Mary Lou Stephens Spurgeon; two brothers, Robert Spurgeon and Audie Spurgeon and great grandson, Ian Tyler Lowery Jr. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Brenda Ray Spurgeon of Dalton, GA.; daughter, Stacey (Tim) Johnson of Chatsworth, GA.; step-daughter, Kellie (Ronnie) Stewart of Rocky Face, GA.; step-son, Travis (Chris Wright) Silvers of Covington, GA.; two sisters, Joan Spurgeon Bellamy of Sweetwater, TN., and Kay (James) Jackson of Ringgold, GA.; four brothers, Leonard (Ellen) Spurgeon of Sweetwater, TN., Jimmy Spurgeon of Athens, TN., Gary Spurgeon of Cartersville, GA., and Billy Spurgeon of Dalton, GA.; four very special grandchildren, Megan Lowery, Ian Lowery Sr., Jacob Stewart and Britney Stewart; one great grandchild, Ayden Lowery; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 5:00 P.M. Thursday, December 17, 2020 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Criswell officiating. The family will receive friends 3-5 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Wilson funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel Ringgold, Georgia.
