Harold Boyce “Buzz” Crowder, Jr., age 83, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away Monday – December 14, 2020. Buzz was born in Chickamauga, Georgia to the late Harold Boyce Crowder, Sr. and Murray Jordan Crowder. He resided his childhood in Chickamauga where he was a graduate of Gordon Lee High School – Class of 1957. While in high school, he enjoyed playing baseball and football. He continued his education at the University of Georgia where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He was an avid Georgia Bulldawgs fan and also a Kansas City Royals fan. He was a public health advisor for the U.S. Public Health Service where he worked for twenty five years and had also worked for the Center for Disease Control. Due to his job, he had resided in Los Angeles, CA, Portland, OR, Phoenix, AZ, Denver, CO, Columbia, MO and Prairie Village, Kansas. After retiring he moved back to Walker County and resided in Rock Spring, Georgia from 1993 to 2013. Buzz enjoyed playing golf as much as possible. He also enjoyed reading, gardening and listening to classical music. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife: Jo-Ann Alexander Crowder and their daughter: Jennifer Crowder Dunn. He is survived by his son: David (Joan) Crowder of Lilburn, GA, grandchildren: Jackie (Alec) Young of Marietta, GA, Kate, Stephen and Mackenzie Crowder all of Lilburn, GA, great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Thomas and Laine Young all of Marietta, GA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday and after 12 noon Saturday. Funeral service will be held graveside in Chickamauga Cemetery at 1:00 pm – Saturday – December 19, 2020 graveside with Pastor Doug Jordan officiating.
